My main reason for seeking re-election is to support the mission and pivotal work of the district’s Strategic Plan.
I have a long history with the Shawnee Mission Public Schools, as a student, parent, patron and most recently a school board member. I care deeply about our continued success. My main reason for seeking re-election is to support the mission of the district and to continue the pivotal work of the district’s Strategic Plan. At the heart of this plan is the mission to ensure every student has the opportunity to build their own foundation for success in life’s endeavors.
The Strategic Plan was shaped by hundreds of community members just two years ago. With the district’s clarity of direction, dedicated educators and staff, committed families, continued restoration of state funding for public education, and an infusion of federal relief dollars, Shawnee Mission is poised to emerge stronger and better able to create opportunities for every student to achieve.
Steady progress on the three objectives — personalized learning plans, college and career readiness, interpersonal skills — is being made through intentional efforts, driven by a data-informed commitment to the five strategies. I will work to maintain focused attention on our student-centered plan, particularly in the tailwinds of the global pandemic. My re-election will provide experience, stability and continuity in leadership for the Shawnee Mission School District. I hope to be part of this exciting future.
